I read a LOT of indie sci/fi Romance, and most of it is mediocre at best. So I was more than pleasantly surprised by this one. I loved it! I couldn't put it down!

This book is a REAL full length novel with a well developed plot line that was not predictable or cliche. The world building was outstanding. It wasn't like anything I have ever read. I loved the fascinating details of the Brion culture and language. I loved that the very alpha males did not react in ways that are so stereotypical (and tiring) for this genre.

While it is a romance novel, and I completely fell in love with the hero, Diego, the plot is far more than that. The writer made me cared enough about the characters to feel the suspense, intrigue and peril that accompanied thier journey. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments too.

From a literary standpoint, it's well written. So many of the indie romances I try have little to no editing and the writing style itself is so awkward and cumbersome it renders the book unreadable, regardless of how good the plot line is. Not so in this case. It appears to have been well edited and the writing style never gets in the way of the story. Well done Vi! I look forward to more in this series.

Alien General Bride Brion Brides eBook Vi Voxley Reviews

And that was seriously lacking in this story.
Sex is just that, just what the author described, the act of ****ing, and empty, and ugly, if there is no love between the partners.
Sex, even at its most basic, can and is a beautiful thing - when it is truly a joining of body and soul.
The bond, or binding, is not believable without this joining of the souls for the characters or the readers. Even the author leaves her Hero, Diego, expecting just that little bit more.
When the characters and the author come together from a place of oneness, of real love, then the bond would be real in the world the author has created. For now, it's all just ****ing.

1 star because there's no "halfsies" allowed.
Love that this was a full length novel, thank you very much!!! I've been wanting to know more about this universe and its final being delivered. Very exciting and also very appreciated.

Another solid set of characters that are easy to relate to, I especially found myself connecting to Isolde in this, as she is a human from Earth that has been put into a very unusual and dangerous situation. Reading how she dealt with this was not only entertaining but also had a realistic feel to it. Isolde's reactions to the events unfolding around her seemed very real to me and if the situation were actually real might possibly be something that could happen. I enjoy when the author makes their universe and its characters feel like real places and people, its helps me to connect with the story and get a clearer picture when I'm reading.

Diego gave me the opening into the Brion's universe that I've been dying for since the first book in this series. Reading how he thinks, acts and looks at the universe around him was simply amazing. I love learning about new cultures in real life, so learning about an alien culture pretty much rocks my world. And while I'm sure there is way more to learn about the Brion, this definitely satisfied some of my curiosity.

The story flowed very smoothly as events unfolded at a nice pace. Making this a very smooth, easy read. I think if I wasn't reading on my lunch breaks I would have devoured this in one day. Definitely looking forward to reading more.
Overall Rating 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Alien General’s Bride shares Isolde and Diego’s journey and it is one you do not want to miss! Their heart warming story is packed with nail biting action, intense emotions, and fantastic characters. Vi Voxley has captured my attention with her Brion warriors and brides series. I began reading this series backwards beginning with the Alien General’s Chosen and once I finished it, I wanted to read more about this amazing race of warriors and their brides.

Our heroine, Isolde Fenner has a wonderful sense of humor! I found myself laughing at her inner dialogue and empathizing with her dilemma. She is thrust into an unimaginable situation when she misses the transport ship taking her to Rhea on her first mission as a scientist from Terra. She comes face-to-face with a Brion warrior, not just any but the notorious Diego Grothan!

Diego is our swoon-worthy Brion general. He is completely caught off guard when he meets his gesha, Isolde. His career achievements are many…he is an undefeated general and feared throughout the universe. Diego is methodical and exact. When a gerion meets his gesha there is no denying fate. As much as Isolde tries fighting her feelings for Diego, she can’t deny the connection that continues to grow with each passing moment they share and of course, Diego will not back down from a challenge! Isolde will be his sooner or later.

I highly recommend reading this book. It is a fabulous addition to my science fiction romance library. The development of the plot tugs at your psyche as it unfolds. Your imagination runs wild enabling you to connect with the characters. It is a fast-paced and full-length novel.
First of all, some of the reviews complained about the violent nature of the warriors in this world setting. I could find no real issues with it. In fact, one scene was extremely well choreographed and clever. This showed that the character involved was as who he was portrayed. A very smart general. If you see what I mean.

My big problem is that the author falls all over her feet with the actual writing of the story. Some paragraphs don't make sense. Sometimes you don't know what or who is doing what. Her writing technique is way below her creativity.

I gave the story 4 stars because I enjoyed reading it. Lots of verve and imagination. And she can back up her plot lines with real intelligence. It would have been nice to see more of the initial humor threaded thru to the end, however.
